Karen Colantuoni
- Aqua Instructor
Karen has been in the Fitness Industry for over 40 years. She taught her first aerobics class, a Jane Fonda knock-off, in 1981 and has been teaching and learning ever since. Her passion for fitness, training, and competition stems from her experiences as a high school and collegiate athlete. Her extensive background includes health and fitness as well as athletic performance training. Karen was a New England area pioneer of Reebok Step, Reebok Core Board, and the Bender Ball, serving as an instructor trainer in all three areas of conditioning. She is a certified Schwinn and Keiser Cycle Trainer. From 1998 – 2006, Karen served as the Fitness Director at Rama Fitness. Additionally, Karen worked at Caritas Hospital as an ACE personal trainer in surgery rehabilitation. Karen was also a Reebok Run Mentor from 2001-2006, training and motivating new runners. Up until 2024, Karen worked full-time as a Food Service Event Supervisor at Boston College. Despite the demands of her job, she remained committed to teaching a variety of classes at local gyms, including water aerobics at the Vanderbilt Club. Karen is thrilled to be back at the Club. “I love teaching aqua classes because I always wanted to be a Rock Star. Now, I get to entertain everyone in the pool, and they can’t walk out on me.” Karen’s class format includes continuous movement and high energy. You should expect the unexpected!
